Credit Reporting Agencies Agree to Overhaul

The three biggest companies that collect and disseminate credit information on millions of Americans will change the way they handle errors and list unpaid medical bills as part of the broader industry overhaul in more than a decade.
Under an agreement Equifax Information Services LLC, Experian Information Solutions Inc. and TransUnion LLC will be more proactive in resolving disputes over information contained in credit reports. Most changes will be implemented nationally within the next 6 to 39 months.
Studies have found that a large number of consumers are effected by credit report errors.  You should check your credit information on an annual basis to make sure there are no errors.  There are a number of Free websites such as Freecreditreport.com.or you can go to Equifax, Experian  and TransUnion  websites and request one free report a year.
