Lake Housing Market Making Slow Recovery

The annual Real Estate Symposium for the Lake of the Ozarks drew recession-weary realtors from around the Lake on the afternoon of Oct. 18, but what they heard may have put a spring back in their step. Residential prices around the Lake seemed to have bottomed out in 2010, and this year, realtors are seeing sales and prices finally begin to recover.
The gains are modest, but not insignificant: the first three quarters of 2012 have shown a 14% increase in real estate transactions over the same period in 2011. Shaun White, a VP for RE/MAX, LLC put it this way: “There is light at the end of the tunnel.” He warned that there will still be more foreclosures, but he said, “We do feel that the recovery we’re seeing right now is for real.”
